The objective of this course is to introduce trainees from disciplines of the Petroleum Engineering and Geology to the key concepts and principles of Geology, Geophysics, and Petrophysics & Directional Surveying methods used in Oil & Gas industry today. Emphasis is given on working principles of MWD Tools , different sensors used in tools, Working principles of Pulser ,its data transmission procedure , & importance of analysing this Real Time Data while Drilling to optimize the drilling operation. It will also cover the Basic of Directional Drilling, & Formation Evaluation

Overview

MWD  course addresses the technology used to Measure different parameters while drilling from a fundamental view point.

  • It also enlightens about the  tools and procedures to obtain data & various corrections  to be applied on surface for  MWD operations
  • During the first day, the overall MWD process is presented along with definitions and descriptions of surface sensors and its applications. This provides the vocabulary to understand the MWD process. During the remainder of the week, the various components and procedures are discussed in greater detail.
  • Course will include the  importance  of  measurements done while drilling by MWD tools as inclination, azimuth, pressure, temperature & drilling dynamics.

Field Aspect

  • Different sensors used in Process of MWD and its working principles and its applications in realtime.
  • Importance of different measurements done while drilling Importance of Drilling Dynamics and basic mitigation procedure followed to mitigate the vibrations
  • “Course is tailored to the class’s need and not just delivered from a syllabus. This is an excellent way to give people what they need to develop a basic understanding of the MWD field
